The project will result in the construction of a 500 MW, two-hour duration, grid-scale battery at AGL’s Hunter Energy Hub.

A$750-million.

The project will be supported by a $35-million grant awarded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency as part of its Advancing Renewables Program and a long-term energy service agreement.

Construction work for the battery is expected to start 2024, with the start of operations targeted for mid-2026.
