Jasco expands Nairobi office as it eyes East African growth
JSE-listed smart technologies firm Jasco is expanding its Nairobi office in an effort to capture a bigger market in the East African region.
The company, which offers a range of electronic solutions, has hired a Kenyan technical and sales team to drive its voice, data and video business in the region.
According to Jasco Enterprise executive head for Africa Danny Ross, the hiring of a local team will enable the company to keep its costs low, enabling it to pass on the benefits to customers.
“The hiring of locals with a known information technology history gives us a ready avenue to lure new clients, while enhancing services to existing clients,” he notes.
He adds that the expansion of the Nairobi office creates an opportunity for the local team to grow and ensure skills transfer into the region, while delivering excellence in customer service.
Jasco, which opened a liaison office in Kenya in May last year, has concentrated on tapping opportunities in sectors like financial services, telecommunications, service providers and logistics.
The company has been focusing on growing business with existing customers and increasing market share through the acquisition of new customers.
The expansion of the Nairobi office will enable Jasco to capitalise on opportunities in the fast-growing East African market with the backing and support of distributors and product suppliers, as well as existing partnerships with a variety of global solutions providers.
“A dedicated presence in Kenya will not only improve our customer service, but also afford us the opportunity for additional growth,” states Ross.
Jasco Group, which completed a three-year restructuring plan in 2015, saw its revenues in the year ended June 30, 2015, increase by 8% to R1.1-billion.
