In a positive turn of events, JSE-listed platinum miner Implats expects to report at least a 20% year-on-year increase in headline earnings per share (HEPS) for the year ended June 30.

The miner posted headline earnings and HEPS of R3-billion and 423c apiece, respectively, in the financial year ended June 30, 2019.

A significant increase in the dollar basket price for platinum group metals (PGMs), together with rand depreciation, resulted in a higher rand PGMs basket price received by the group during the year under review.

Implats says it will publish a further trading statement, detailing the expected HEPS and earnings per share ranges for the year under review, before its full results are released on or about September 3.
