ID Logistics South Africa, the local branch of the French contract logistics group, offers end-to-end logistics services, including primary transportation, warehousing and secondary distribution for customers in the retail, fast-moving consumer goods, fragrance and cosmetics, fashion, high-tech and e-commerce sectors.

ID Logistics supports customers’ strategies through all supply chain functions, providing efficient management, innovation and optimisation.

The company’s services include picking and automation, warehousing and order picking, and upstream and downstream flow optimisation. ID Logistics South Africa’s resources include a team of transport and warehouse engineers, project managers, an information technology team to customise systems, a continuous improvement team and a sizeable support structure from the ID Logistics group.

As a global business, ID Logistics has the infrastructure, technical skills and depth of resources to take new and tailored solutions to market quickly and easily. Established in 2001, the group has an extensive track record in contract logistics, with operations across 14 countries in 203 locations globally.

Meanwhile, ID Logistics South Africa was established in 2012 when dairy producer Danone contracted the company to facilitate their warehousing and distribution management.

ID Logistics South Africa says its network was primarily established to manage Danone Southern Africa’s primary warehouse at its Boksburg-based factory in Ekurhuleni, which supplies regional distribution centres and cross-dock delivery facilities.

However, ID Logistics has since expanded its operations to target other clients, in a bid to ensure that its contract logistics skills are not only exposed to the fresh market, but also accessible to the logistics and supply chain market. The company was recently contracted to distribute products on behalf of Patleys and Mighty Meats, a combination of chilled and ambient food products.

The ID Logistics group boasts a turnover of €875-million, employing 13 400 employees globally and 150 locally.
