Established eight years ago, Johannesburg-based I-CAT Environmental Solutions has grown to become a leading environmental management company in South Africa, where its clients include major mining groups like Anglo American, DRDGold, Assmang, Kumba Iron Ore, Exxaro, First Quantum, Xstrata and African Rainbow Minerals, besides other.

The 58-employee company is also represented in Australia, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia, and manages projects in several other countries.

Its product range includes dust suppression, water purification, fire safety and forestry and agriculture products, while its services include dust analysis and management; effluent water analysis and management; carbon footprint auditing and management and carbon strategy development; integrated environmental management plans; legal compliance audits and applications for waste, water use and emissions licences; as well as environmental-impact assessments and specialist studies.

I-CAT, whose head office and production facility are in Johannesburg and Durban respectively, has operational offices in Pretoria, Sishen and Zambia as well as other offices in Australia and Maputo.

The black economically empowered company is in the process of obtaining ISO 14001 and 18001 certification. Besides its 58 employees in South Africa, it has empowered over ten representative companies, which collectively employ more than 100 people. Employment opportunities have also been created in Botswana, Namibia, Australia, Mozambique and Zambia.
