The project entails the proposed construction of a third methanol plant at the Geismar site, with a capacity of 5 000 t/d.
The plant will be a new-build unit, with a capacity of 1.8-million tonnes year, much larger than the other two one-million-tonne-a-year plants.

Latest Developments
Methanex has awarded KBR a reimbursable engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the proposed methanol plant. The FEED work is expected to be completed over the next 12 months, with a final investment decision expected by mid-2019. Pending a final investment decision to proceed with the potential third plant, KBR will have the opportunity to provide detailed EPCM services for the new facility.
