Engine problems can be the result of contaminated fuel. Condensation, leaking filler pipes, caps, inspection covers, breathers and emulsified water generated during the filling process or movement of the fuel in the storage tank, can result in water contamination.

Water contamination can cause fuel to lose its lubricating properties, making the fuel system inefficient. In addition, when water combines with sulphur it forms acid which is highly corrosive to engines. Lube oil filters provide engines with contaminant protection and a potentially extended service life.

Power stations, pipelines and marine engines can have run times of 98% as a standard in many industries. Filtration solutions can provide protection for fuel systems and are important for diesel and fuel engines in industry, construction, marine and consumer applications. Cleaner fuel can prolong engine life, lower maintenance costs and reduce exhaust emissions.

The Winslow Stationary Multiple Element Design fuel coalescer is said to remove 99% of water and dirt from fuel, by following a two-stage process.

Through fibrous media, emulsified water is attracted and held. Water droplets unite into larger droplets to form free water. The free water is released during the water repellent second stage. Separated water falls into the water collection sump, cleaning fuel and reducing water contamination. The company states that its fuel coalescer removes 99% per SAE J1488 of emulsified water and 99% efficiency per SAE J1839 of free water.

Hytec Fluid Technology (HFT) is a member of the Bosch Rexroth South Africa Group of Companies and focusses on providing fluid management solutions to the industrial and mobile markets. The Winslow fuel coalescer from Fleetguard is available through HFT.
