The Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (EPPF) has appointed Shafeeq Abrahams as the new CE and principal officer, replacing Linda Mateza, effective April 1.

Abrahams is the current EPPF CFO, a role he has held since 2018.

“The board of trustees has great faith and confidence in Mr Abrahams’ ability to lead the fund toward our vision of being a sustainable and trusted retirement savings provider; positively impacting a change in society.

“We believe that after a comprehensive search we have chosen the right individual to lead the executive leadership team and transition the Fund towards the achievement of the objectives set out in our 2024 strategy. The board wishes to take this opportunity to wish Mr Abrahams the very best in his new role and assure him of our ongoing support,” said chairperson Caroline Henry.

Abrahams holds a BComm degree, obtained from University of the Witwatersrand, as well as a BComm (Hons) in Accounting Science; and a Master's in Business Leadership, both obtained from the University of South Africa.

He ultimately obtained his Chartered Accountant qualification through the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
