US-based emergency rental boiler and auxiliary equipment company Nationwide Boiler Incorporated assisted in keeping more than 125 buildings warm during the last winter season, in Midwest US.

The company supplied one of its mobile temporary boilers to assist a large district heating company in supplying heat for buildings in the area.

An 82 500 lb/h, 350 psi design trailer-moun- ted watertube rental boiler with an EconoStak-series economiser was provided and shipped from Nationwide Boiler’s partner storage yard in Bessemer, Alabama, the US.

The trailer-mounted boiler was hauled for two days before being started up by Nationwide Boiler’s representative National Boiler Works, located in Ohio.

The client provided a heated enclosure, surrounding the boiler to protect the equipment from freeze damage – a requirement for all Nationwide Boiler’s rental boilers.

The enclosure housed the front of the boiler, including the burner, fan, motor, controls and all associated piping on each end. An external heating source was also provided to further protect the equipment.

Nationwide Boiler has provided temporary and permanent boiler systems to district heating companies since 1967.

The company also offers a complete range of boiler-related equipment for rental for use in short-term, seasonal, emergency use, as well as sales of boilers and turnkey plant projects.

Products include low mono-nitrogen oxide (NOx) boilers, mobile boiler rental units, EconoStak economisers for fuel efficiency, and CataStak selective catalytic reduction systems for less than 2.5 parts per million (ppm) NOx compliance.

In other news, Nationwide Boiler also supplied and delivered a large order of boiler rental equipment to a major oil refinery located in Northern California, US, earlier this year.

The equipment includes three 70 000 lb/h trailer-mounted watertube boilers, two mobile feedwater systems and three CataStak selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for NOx emissions compliance.

The rental boiler equipment was required on a fast-track basis and an additional rental boiler and CataStak SCR system were requested upon delivery of the initial units.

To fulfil the customer’s request, Nationwide Boiler quickly commissioned a boiler that had returned from another rental project.

To feed Nationwide Boiler’s expanding fleet, the company acquired four used boilers near the end of 2013, which it plans to refurbish and resell.

The boilers will undergo Nationwide Boiler’s reconditioning programme and will be released for sale once they have been reconditioned and tested.

The reconditioned boilers carry the same guarantee as new, warranted boiler equip- ment.

The four units include a 100 000 lb/h (350 psi design) gas or oil-fired watertube boiler, 700 hp (250 psi design) gas or oil-fired firetube boiler, 350 hp (150 psi design) gas-fired firetube boiler and a 250 hp (150 psi design) gas-fired firetube boiler.

The boilers are American Society of Mech-anical Engineers certified and will meet NOx emissions levels of 30 ppm or less.
