Efficient solutions for economical heat and steam generation

Heating systems manufacturer Viessmann announced in March that it is introduc- ing new high-pressure steam boilers into the market this year.

Viessmann’s gas- condensing boiler, known as the Vitocrossal 200, has an output range of between 87 kW and 311 kW and is now available with a permissible operating pressure of 6 bar.

The boiler thus has a wider range of potential uses, compared with Viessmann’s previous gas-condensing boilers, and is well suited to provide heat for large facilities and high buildings, says Viessmann.

The company describes the Vitocrossal 200 as an attractively priced condensing boiler. This affordability is supported by the stainless steel Inox-Crossal heating surface and modulating MatriX gas burner.

Unlike standard heat exchanger designs – especially those made from aluminum – Inox-Crossal heating surfaces do not allow condensate to accumulate or condensate residue to settle on the hot gas side of the walls. Heat transfer in Vitocrossal 200, therefore, remains efficient on a permanent basis.

U-pipe locations and changes in cross-sections in the Inox-Crossal heating surfaces guarantee full contact with heating gas and, consequently, maximum heat transfer to the boiler water.

The smooth, stainless steel surface allows for the condensate that forms during the condensing process to simply flow downward in the same direction as the flue gas.

The boiler, therefore, has a permanent self-cleaning effect, which reduces maintenance work and ensures the permanent high use of condensation technology.

The combination of stainless steel Inox-Crossal heating surfaces and MatriX gas burners provides enhanced fuel efficiency and low carbon dioxide emissions.

Further, owing to the low-flame area combustion, the MatriX burner is very quiet at all output levels.

Meanwhile, the Vitocrossal 200 can either be run at a constant or a weather-compensated reduced boiler water temperature.

The steam boiler’s control unit is easy and convenient to operate owing to the large, lit screen, which has a plain, multiline text display.

Operating times and heating curves are shown in clearly defined diagrams on the screen while logically structured menus allow for intuitive operation.

A standardised local operating network bus enables users to integrate building control systems with sophistication.

In addition, the Vitocon telecontrol system also provides the option of extensive remote monitoring and maintenance of the boiler system.

Further, two Vitocrossal 200s can also be operated simultaneously from a control-engineering and exhaust-gas-line perspective, with outputs of just 87 kW and above. Special stainless steel exhaust gas collector lines and hydraulic system piping are available for twin boiler systems.

Vitocrossal 200 holds up to seven times more water than comparable condensing boilers on the market. For example, the smallest boiler in this series, with a nominal heat output of 87 kW, holds 229 ℓ of water.
