Earthmoving machinery spare parts manufacturer Malika Overseas will display a new range of replacement parts for backhoe loaders, originally manufactured by industrial equipment manufacturers JCB, Caterpillar and Case, at this year’s BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA international trade fair, which will take place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from September 15 to 18.

The company’s business manager, Sam Shahani, says the company’s new manufactured parts are specifically designed for African subcontinent conditions.

He tells Engineering News that the company technicians reviewed the working conditions and service provisions of the predominant brands of earthmoving machinery operating in Africa earlier this year and subsequently remodelled their products for a September launch, to ensure better efficiency in African conditions.

Malika is aware of operators not always being able to grease parts or service machinery as regularly as they should, hence, the company is delivering parts that are suited to the environment in which a client operates, ensuring more machine hours and limited maintenance.

Shahani notes that the company’s replacement parts comply with original-equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs’) technical specifications. However, he asserts that Malika’s parts last longer and, consequently, he believes they provide more value for money.

Meanwhile, Malika Overseas’ 30-year partnership with Aries India Earthmovers ensures that Malika has a manufacturing base that operates as an OEM. As a result, Malika’s products are high quality and cost efficient.

Being one of India’s leading exporters of engineering goods, Malika’s parts distributors are based in the US, Europe, Africa and South-East Asia.

Shahani says about 20% of the company’s top-line revenue is derived from the African market. Additionally, many of Malika’s European distributors ship directly to customers in Africa. Therefore, product dissemination is probably closer to 30%, he notes.

North Africa, particularly Algeria, Morocco and Nigeria, has the highest demand for Malika and Aries products, but Shahani notes that a primary objective of Malika is to increase product interest by expanding its dealer base in Central and Southern Africa.

Malika formed part of Aries’ exhibits at the 2011 and 2014 Bauma India events, and Shahani believes that the Bauma exhibitions’ record for attracting serious buyers and suppliers will help build Malika’s brand image. “We are, therefore, very excited about showcasing our products at BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA for the first time,” he says, adding that he is confident that exhibitors and visitors will see the quality that Malika brings to the market.

Malika Overseas and Aries India Earthmovers are involved in the specialised manufacture of earthmoving machinery equipment, namely hydraulic breakers, excavator and bulldozer parts, as well as ground-engaging tools.
