Electrochromic glass technology supplier SageGlass ticks all the technological boxes for the installation of a 13 000 ft2 dynamic glass on the entire Western facade of the lavish Mystic Lake Center, in the US.

SageGlass was chosen for its electrochromic technology that controls sunlight to optimise daylight, outdoor views and comfort, while preventing glare and heat gain without the need for blinds or solar controls. This project will be completed in partnership with Worth Group Architects & Designers.

The dynamic glass that will allow visitors to experience the biophilic effects of nature and natural daylight will be open to guests by the end of 2017.

Mystic Lake Center’s project vision for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community was to create a sophisticated facility with advanced technologies throughout all its meeting spaces.

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community lives in harmony with nature and recognises its restorative healing powers. Hence, maintaining a view and connection to the beautiful views of The Meadows, a scenic golf course surrounded by waterfalls, native plants and statues, as well as views of the tribal wetlands, was of utmost importance when designing the facade.

Installing SageGlass will allow resort visitors to stay connected to nature and experience the biophilic benefits of the outdoors, which include stress reduction, enhanced clarity of thought and an improved sense of wellbeing.

Worth Group Architects & Designers chief design officer and partner Bryan Hamlin notes that it was important to honor the heritage and integrate the values of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in the contemporary design of the project.

“SageGlass met all of the community’s requirements with its ability to provide unobstructed views of the wetlands and surrounding landscape, while simultaneously bringing advanced building technology that is in line with the fluidity and flexibility of this facility’s meeting and event spaces. Beyond superior functionality, SageGlass also met the community’s form requirements with its elegant aesthetics,” he says.

Further, visitors who use the project’s conference rooms for workplace meetings will enjoy unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape and access to natural daylight, which, according to Saint-Gobain and SageGlass’s recent national survey, significantly reduces stress levels.

SageGlass CEO Alan McLenaghan highlights that its company culture is very much aligned with the goal and vision of this resort, which is the shared appreciation of nature and natural daylighting.

“We have seen the positive impact that access to natural daylighting and views of nature can have on building occupants, and we believe our dynamic glass will allow Mystic Lake Center’s guests to experience a holistic sense of wellbeing and enhance their experience in the facility,” he comments.

The

Mystic Lake Center will also serve as a major economic catalyst and is expected to create 400 construction jobs and about 100 permanent jobs in the region.
