Electrical and industrial components distributor RS Components, which is the trading brand of UK-based distributor Electro Components, has added over 800 new lines to its RS Pro range of high-quality fasteners, fixings and ironmongery, giving engineers a choice of nearly 9 000 products for general and high-performance applications in mechanical engineering and the construction industry.

The new introductions extend the range of RS Pro zinc-plated and stainless steel machine screws to address almost every industrial context, from general machine building, maintenance and repair and installation to specialist applications such as marine equipment manufacturing. A wide range of sizes and head types are available in a choice of economical zinc-plated steel or 304 and 316 stainless steel for applications that require higher corrosion resistance.

RS is the market leader in the high service level distribution of electrical, electronic and mechanical tools and industrial products. Operating in 26 countries, while serving a further 100 through third-party distributors, RS serves every sector of industry in the procurement of their products relating to maintenance, repair, operations, low-volume production and research and development.

It has further expanded its range of steel and stainless steel socket screws to offer one of the broadest selections of any supplier. The screws are suitable for virtually any indoor or outdoor application that requires high reliability, durability and ruggedness.

By boosting its selection of masonry fixings, including hook-and-eye bolts, sleeve anchors and through bolts in high-grade materials and a wide range of sizes, RS has strengthened its offering for the construction sector.

In addition to its RS Pro range, it offers industrial fasteners and fixings from many recognised brands, including fastener manufacturer Fischer Fixings, engineering company Rawlplug, aerospace company Heico, fastener manufacturer Holo-Krome, industrial equipment supplier JCS Hi-Torque and manufacturing company Jubilee.

With over 500 000 products across 2 500 leading brands, it is committed to ensuring that its 1.5-million customers have fast access to a broad range of products and technologies.

RS notes that companies traditionally spend 80% of their time sourcing products that account for only 20% of their total procurement spend. Therefore, RS is focussed on reducing customers’ total cost of product ownership by reducing the need to make multiple calls to various companies to source products.

This reduces supplier-related administration and allows for the amalgamation, as well as consolidation, of supplier bases.
