Industrial products supplier Dowson & Dobson (D&D) Industrial expects its distribution agreement with industrial products supplier Pneumatic & General Supplies for Richards Bay, in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), to expand its reach to industries that include the coal, agriculture, sugar, and pulp and paper industries in the next few years.

D&D Industrial director Terry O’Kelly highlights that Richards Bay is an important geographical area for D&D Industrial as it is home to numerous metal processing plants, the Richards Bay Coal Terminal, the sugar industry and large pulp and paper plants.

“With such diverse industries, we see huge potential for the supply of our products, especially the Wilkerson and the Waircom range of pneumatic components,” he adds.

The companies entered into a distribution agreement which stipulates that from September 2 Pneumatic & General Supplies will operate D&D Industrial’s Richards Bay branch.

Pneumatic & General Supplies has managed D&D Industrial’s Durban branch since 2010.

O’Kelly tells Engineering News that the company’s KZN regional manager and Pneumatic & General Supplies MD, Gona Pillay, has in-depth knowledge of the industrial markets in KZN and is the ideal candidate to help expand D&D Industrial’s presence in Richards Bay.

“Pillay has had great success in running our Durban operation and we are confident that he will use his skills and expertise to advance the status of our operations throughout KZN,” states O’Kelly, adding that Pillay has already appointed initial support and sales staff to manage the operation.

“Our main objective is to support existing business that is covered by the Durban branch and then expand the business in Richards Bay. The Durban branch performed well during the first half of this year and we look forward to increased growth as the full potential of this market is realised,” he explains.

D&D Industrial also provided the Richards Bay office, which will stock D&D Interna- tional’s complete range of branded high-quality industrial products, with new office equipment such as computers and warehousing equipment.

O’Kelly notes that the company will continue to foster partnerships with its existing customers and prospective customers through the employment of technically qualified staff who will offer improved after-sales solutions.

Consequently, D&D Industrial appointed Diane Pretorius branch manager. Pretorius will be supported by Tarryn Varden Pillay, who is in charge of internal sales, with Gona Pillay continuing to oversee the branch’s operations in his capacity as KZN regional manager.

“Being a company that prides itself on selling high-quality products has enabled D&D Industrial to maintain a strong presence in various industries. Although there may be instances where there are cheaper alternatives to our products, we are fully committed and dedicated to selling premium brands that provide the best long-term return on investment,” O’Kelly concludes.
