A digitised inspection service is set to enhance and revolutionise the inspection process for the oil and gas industry.

The inspection technology digitises the entire inspection workflow by leveraging automation and overhauling the current paper-based manual process. The creators of the technology state that it is the first of its kind.

The developer states that the technology will allow oil and gas organisations to complete inspections in significantly less time, resulting in potentially reduced risk and costs. As part of the service, operators and asset owners will be able to access their interactive inspection data, to facilitate decisions about asset repairs, replacements or improvements. In addition, it aims to reduce the amount of time personnel are required to work at height using rope access to inspect difficult-to-reach areas of offshore and onshore assets.

The Arup Inspection MInteg (AIM) technology was created by Arup, which has partnered with EnerMech’s specialist inspection division Minteg, to introduce the digitised service to the industry.

The two organisations will collaborate throughout the inspection process, supporting operators to enhance assets based on the inspection findings through engineering expertise across the North Sea, Western Australia and Gulf of Mexico.

MInteg and Arup have signed a three-year agreement to complete inspections with AIM.
