Desmond Maharaj has resigned as CFO and executive director of steelmaker ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) to pursue personal opportunities outside of the business.

AMSA expects Maharaj to step down no earlier than July 31 and no later than September 30, giving it ample opportunity to identify and appoint a suitable successor.

The process to find a successor will begin immediately and the company will consider appropriate internal and external candidates, it said in a statement on May 4.
