Current Electric, a division of ACTOM (Pty) Ltd has been in the forefront of manufacturing and supplying ISO9001 accredited current and voltage transformers globally since February 1982.

Current Electric supplies mainly to LV/MV switchgear manufacturers both locally and internationally and provide a range of current and voltage transformers for indoor application only. It has very strong design capabilities, as all its products are designed in-house and tested to internationally accepted IEC standards and has extensive standard product ranges that can be used for various applications.

Located in Germiston, Gauteng, Current Electric’s factory is equipped with modern plant and test equipment that make use of high-quality manufacturing methods. Products are supplied to all the medium-voltage switchgear original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in South Africa, switchgear repair companies, electrical equipment distributors and directly to end-users.

The export market also forms a significant portion of the turnover of the business, and sales have been recorded to international OEMs, agents and other customers in Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Singapore. Current Electric also manufactures a vast range of nonstandard products specific to customer requirements.

These are products such as CT products that range from 660V to 33kV – ring type, bar primary type and block type, as well as VT products that range from 3.3kV to 22kV – 3Ph 3Limb, 3Ph 5Limb, 1PH Ph to Ph and 1Ph LTG.
