Aldoga, 20 km west of Gladstone, in Queensland, Australia.

Project Owner/s
Publicly owned power generator Stanwell, in partnership with Japan’s biggest domestic hydrogen supplier Iwatani Corporation.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a proposed 3 000 MW green hydrogen electrolysis facility.

The project is expected to have 30-year life span.

The project could create up to 8 900 new jobs.

Pending the successful outcome of the feasibility study, the consortium will complete a front-end engineering design (FEED) phase to reach a financial investment decision in 2023.

Latest Developments
Queensland has announced a A$15-million commitment to support the development of the facility.

The investment in Stanwell will support FEED studies for a project that could eventually be the biggest renewable hydrogen project in Queensland.

The project has the potential to scale up to produce 800 t/d of green hydrogen by the early 2030s.

The A$15-million in fast-tracked funding, through the A$2-billion Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund, will also help future planning for supply chain and workforce opportunities.

The funding will also help to provide the detail required to support a final investment decision on the project.
