Remote working as a result of lockdown regulations caused by the Covid 19 pandemic has meant that business assets are more vulnerable to burglary and vandalism. This has led to a greater focus on ensuring adequate security for many businesses.

Traditional on-site guards are regarded as effective means of providing security at active entry points, where human vigilance is an advantage but with fewer people on site, a different approach is being sought.

Specialist security company, AI Surveillance asserts that independent, offsite closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring is the answer to any company’s security needs.

The CCTV security offering includes advanced, alert-based technology, a team of security specialists, 24/7 monitoring of camera feeds in real-time and the expertise required to take appropriate action to prevent crime.

Off-site monitoring is said to be more advantageous to establishing an in-house control room, where substantial resources are needed to set up the required infrastructure, expertise and technology.

Important factors to consider when selecting an offsite surveillance company include:

  • Operations integrate seamlessly with existing company structures
  • Reduced costs, such as costs for security guards
  • Reduced business risk, by offering a customised solution that increases efficiency, reliability and accountability

Another key consideration is said to be the quality of the relationship between the specialist off-site CCTV monitoring company, the South African Police Services and private armed response companies. A relationship based on mutual trust is said to allow for better information and intelligence sharing – seen as key to the prevention and reduction of crime.
