Established in 2012, incentive advisory firm Cova Advisory & Associates delivers tailored advice to clients who are looking to apply for government grants and incentives. The team, which has more than 60 years of cumulative experience in its fields of expertise, closely monitors the changing regulatory landscape to ensure that the firm’s advice is up to date and that it is able to alert clients to changes in the application criteria.

Cova Advisory monitors and advises on carbon tax, as well as environmental and sustainability issues, as these are of growing importance to the corporate sector. It also closely monitors the rules on black economic empowerment (BEE) to assist companies that have been awarded with incentives, helping them reach their desired status.

The firm also works hard to ensure that the broader business community is aware of the opportunities offered by government’s multibillion-rand incentives.

“We pride ourselves on understanding the full range of government grants and tax incentives on offer so we can guide clients and ensure that they fully understand what is available. We also strive to ensure that the incentives make a difference to clients’ investment decisions and we consider ourselves as thought leaders on carbon tax and incentives,” says the firm.

Cova Advisory works with a range of customers – from large corporates to small businesses – and plays an active part in industry bodies, including those that represent the niche sector in which the firm operates.

Moreover, the firm has conducted various research projects on carbon tax, special economic zones and incentives. It also offers training to investment promotion agencies on site locations, industrial policies and incentives, which is done through its international partner, GDP Global.

Cova Advisory, which will be a Level 2 broad-based black economic-empowered entity under the new BEE codes, is 51% black-owned, with all its shares currently held by the founders of the business.

While the company’s consultants are all professional accountants, attorneys or engineers, who are registered with their respective professional bodies, the company itself is currently being accredited by the South African National Accreditation System as an energy measurement and verification authority.

Cova Advisory is also a member of the Incentive Consultants Association, the National Business Initiative and the American Chamber of Commerce.

The company is housed in an office building at 134 River road, Barbeque Downs, in Kyalami, Johannesburg, with a sales office in Cape Town. Cova Advisory services clients nationally.
