Engineering consulting services provider ECS announced early this year that the company’s Mid-Atlantic LLC president, Leo J Titus, had been selected to serve on the advisory board for George Mason University’s Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship, in Virginia, US.

The centre was established with the aim of advancing research and education in real estate development and finance, ECS explained.

Working in partnership with leading real estate developers, professionals and organisations in the Washington DC area, the centre developed relevant content for the business and academic communities.

ECS stated that Titus was very active in leadership roles for industry and charitable organisations. His past and present leadership capacities included president of the Committee for Dulles, past president of the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories, chairperson of the American Society of Engineers Committee of Civil Engineering Technologists and VP of the Builders Foundation. He previously served as president and was cofounder of the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach.

The company stated that Titus was motivated by his passion for education. He was also a regular guest lecturer on multiple subjects at several universities, including George Mason University, Clarkson University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Alongside these engagements, ECS said, Titus also enjoyed teaching civil engineering principles as part of a science, technology, engineering and mathematics education programme with local preschoolers in Northern Virginia, US.

ECS specialises in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing and facilities engineering services. The company emphasises its global footprint, adding that nearly 50 locations across the mid-Atlantic, southern and midwestern states in the US have been established and that these offices employ more than 1 200 personnel.
