Plastics manufacturer Easyhold is increasing its product offering to new markets, as it foresees an increase in sales levels through exports.

“The depreciating rand has prompted us to seek sales in new markets and to start looking for an increase in product sales in the export sectors. Currently, 95% of our sales are in South Africa, with only 5% in the export market,” says Easyhold MD Simon Barnard.

The company exports products to Namibia, Mauritius and the UK, with the intention of further expanding through trade shows and pavilions across the African continent. He notes that Easyhold is starting a marketing and online sales system, as well as increasing information distribution online to increase awareness of Easyhold products such as wall plugs and easytrunking.

The

wall plugs are available in four sizes, can secure cables and pipes that range from 5 mm to 100 mm in diameter and have has a maximum pull-out force – the amount of power it would take to remove the plug through force – of 122 kg. The wall plugs –available in 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm sizes – can be used in large industrial projects or simple do-it-yourself (DIY) projects.

Barnard says Easyhold fasteners can be used with Easyhold’s new product, Easytrunking, which can be used to conceal or hold electric cables in place throughout an office or industrial area.

“Easytrunking is an innovative type of cable securing system, which was initially designed for hiding cables in corners. The product requires corner brackets to be fixed a meter apart over the cable, a cover is then clipped onto the bracket, which conceals and holds the cables in place,” he explains.

Easytrunking is available in two sizes – 56 mm or 100 mm in width – both of which can be used on almost any surface, including wood, plastic or brick walls. To secure the bracket to a surface, glue wall plugs or double-sided tape can be used. Easytrunking consists of a plastic bracket that is secured to a surface with the 56 mm or 100 mm plastic cover then clipped onto the brackets to conceal the cables.

Barnard highlights that all the fasteners produced by Easyhold have been South African Bureau of Standards- (SABS-) tested to ensure that they are high-quality products.

“The SABS tests the pull-out force of the wall plugs on various types of mortar bricks, which assures users – contractors and DIY [enthusiasts] – that Easyhold fasteners are the right product to use,” he says.

Because its products are made from nylon, Easyhold guarantees that its products last longer in corrosive areas. Some of the projects in which the company has been involved have remained corrosion-free for more than ten years.

Easyhold fasteners are sold across South Africa through distributors such as fastening specialist Hellermann Tyton.
