Pump manufacturer Lincoln South Africa reports that its new compact P502 lubricant and supply pump, including on- and off-road commercial vehicles as well as construction, stacker and agricultural machines, is also used in industrial splash zones in the food and beverage industry.

Lincoln South Africa product manager Louis D’Aubry states that automatic lubrication systems (ALSes) like the P502 lubricant and supply pump, which was launched in November last year, are ideal for small applications, can save time and promote productivity.

“When you consider the time it takes for a workshop technician to manually lubricate all the lubrication points of specific equipment, it seems like a full-time job.

“This may result in consequences to production should a premature failure on a bush or bearing occur owing to a lubrication point being missed, forgotten, or underlubricated during a routine maintenance cycle,” he says.

He adds that money and time spent to repair these types of failures, apart from the time taken to service the piece of equipment, could result in production loss.

“ALSes can reduce this problem by administering small doses of grease to all the lubrication points at regular intervals during production, as opposed to having a workshop technician spending hours going through and lubricating.

“The same person can do a visual check of the system in a few minutes, freeing him for additional tasks. “This way of using manpower more efficiently means more can be done by the available staff,” he says.
