City Power has appointed Mongezi Ntsokolo as its new CEO with effect from April 1.

Ntsokolo has almost 30 years’ experience in the electricity industry, having served in different managerial roles at State power utility Eskom, including as group executive for generation, transmission, distribution and human resources.

Ntsokolo takes up the mantle from Nancy Maluleke, who was appointed acting CEO in October last year.

City Power has had several people serving in the top job in the last year. Maluleke took over from Malope Ramagaga, after he was removed from his position in October. Ramagaga succeeded Lerato Setshedi, who was suspended in June.

Board chairperson Advocate Lindiwe Maseko says the arrival of the new CEO will bring stability to City Power.

“We have many long-term plans ahead to turn around the entity, and for that to come to fruition we need a stable leadership to help steer the ship to the right direction.”

While Ntsokolo will inherit some challenges, MMC Mpho Moerane says immediate tasks expected of Ntsokolo include dealing with the overdraft and revenue collection, issues relating to supply chain management, network stability, infrastructure vandalism and cable theft, outage response times, and material availability.
