PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Base metals miner New Century Resources has reported record quarterly zinc production in the three months to June, as production at its namesake project in Queensland, continues to ramp-up.

Overall zinc metal output during the three months to June increased by 12%, to 20 450 t of zinc metal produced, in 42 500 t of concentrate. This was compared with the 37 500 t of concentrate produced in the March quarter.

New Century on Tuesday maintained its production guidance of between 23 000 t and 29 000 t of zinc for the September quarter, telling shareholders that the company would continue with the plant refurbishment, which was currently a 55%, and expansion to full plant capacity during the 2020 financial year, in order to reach a full production of 12-million tonnes a year.
