Cabinet announced on Friday that it had approved the revised White Paper on National Transport Policy.

The policy replaces the 1996 National Transport Policy.

Cabinet said the revised policy addressed the changes that had emerged over the years in the road, rail, maritime and aviation spaces.

It also “broadly aligned the country to international, regional and continental transportation trends”.

Cabinet said the development of the policy had seen wide consultation “with all the relevant stakeholders”.

Once gazetted, the document can be accessed through the Department of Transport website.
