Russia is not typically associated with solar energy, while Viktor Vekselberg’s Renova has strong historical associations with oil and gas. However, Renova and OAO Rusnano jointly established Hevel Solar in 2009 as an integrated solar power company. Hevel is planning to establish solar farms worth $450-million over the coming few years, and pictured above are solar-panel modules passing along an automated production line at its manufacturing plant in Novocheboksarsk, Russia.
