Construction major Aveng has appointed Jerome Govender MD for Moolmans – Aveng’s mining arm and one of the company’s two core businesses – effective April 1.

Aveng executive chairperson Eric Diack says Govender has the necessary skills and 25 years of construction industry experience to lead the turnaround intervention at Moolmans, which has been focused on restoring planned operational and financial performance and returning to profitability.

Govender has served as CEO of Cross Yarra Partnership, which is a public–private partnership rail project in Melbourne, Australia.

He was also previously CEO of Concor Holdings when it was still under Murray & Roberts’ (M&R’s) infrastructure and building division. He spent 15 years of his career with M&R.
