Established in 1950, Andrew Mentis started as a precision engineering works and has grown into a leading supplier of steel grating on the African continent.

Grating is an engineered product and Andrew Mentis manufactures it in such a way as to ensure that it has the appropriate load-bearing capacity for optimum safety in any given application. The company has been producing Rectagrid RS40 floor grating
for more than 40 years and the effectiveness of the product has been proven over years of application in the construction, infrastructure and mining sectors.

Using a unique compressive pressure locking system, pioneered by founder Andrew Mentis, the bearer bars and transversals
of the Rectagrid RS40 form an exact pitch of 40 mm by 40 mm, with the bearer bars being perfectly upright and without any sideways lean.

In addition to grating, the company offers positive grip pressed Die-Line grating, a range of fibreglass grating, expanded metal, Mentrail (guardrails for roads), industrial handrail systems,
steel floor tiles and Mendrill (automatic drilling and boring machines).

Andrew mentis operates from its head office in Johannesburg, South Africa and has branches in Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.

Andrew Mentis purchased R & R Engineering (Pty) Ltd, which now trades as Mentis Australia. The company also purchased Rhino Grating, operating out of Brisbane and Melbourne.
