Aim- and TSX-V-listed African mining royalty generator Altus Strategies has appointed Sandra Bates as general counsel.

She is an international lawyer with over 20 years' experience, having advised listed and private companies in the natural resources sector on complex commercial negotiations and environmental, social and governance engagement.

Bates is a partner at London-based law firm Keystone Law, a nonexecutive director of LSE-listed Adriatic Metals, a nonexecutive director of LSE-listed Pensana Rare Earths and a member of Women in Mining UK.

Altus CE Steven Poulton says Bates has an impeccable record as a natural resources lawyer and joins the company at an exciting stage in its evolution.

“Following the transformative strategic investment by La Mancha in Altus earlier this year, the number of potential project and royalty opportunities under review has increased substantially.”

Poulton says he looks forward to working with Bates on these and other such opportunities as Altus continues to grow the value of its diversified portfolio of precious and base metal assets.
