Championing both manufacturing localisation and sustainability, this event is a leading collaborator in the current drive for economic recovery during the ongoing pandemic. As ordinary South Africans, we can support each other by buying proudly South African products made by South Africans for South Africans.

With sustainable brands favouring local production, sourcing local materials, and employing local artisans, not only is our local economy boosted and sense of community strengthened, but from a global perspective these businesses eliminate the need for frequent transportation thus reducing greenhouse emissions – ultimately preserving natural resources for future generations.

This is true Ubuntu in action.

Kathryn Frew, allfashion sourcing show director, said, “It is important that we find innovative ways to help local companies market their brand to a targeted audience of potential buyers in a cost-effective – and safe – way.”

The live event will feature a range of quality products including ready-to-wear garments, intimates, home textiles, fabrics, and denim. These products will be exhibited in concept booths linked to virtual information scannable via QR codes. Visitors can connect with manufacturers of choice via online matchmaking. Attendees are also invited to the Cape Town Young Designers Competition and winner’s announcement on October 21st.

Frew further added, “Local buyers can touch and feel a display of products without the presence of the exhibitor. Showroom and seminar content have been carefully crafted to enhance both the exhibitor and visitor experience.”

The virtual platform will remain live for a period of 1 month following the V & Waterfront event while content delivered during the 3-day seminars will be available to all registering online. Attendees can enjoy video calls, live chats, sustainability-focused workshops, and get to better understand the importance of localisation in 2021 and beyond.
