Airlink to resume services to Nampula in Mozambique
South African private-sector regional airline Airlink announced on Thursday that it would restart its direct service between Johannesburg and Nampula in Mozambique. The service would recommence on September 16. Bookings had already been reopened for the route, which had been suspended in March last year.
Nampula is the third biggest city in Mozambique and capital of the province of the same name. It is located 194 km inland of the port cities of Nacala and Mozambique.
“Given Nampula’s strategic importance as northern Mozambique’s key commercial centre for mining, agriculture and tourism, Airlink is proud and excited to have the opportunity to support and serve businesses in this region,” highlighted Airlink CEO and MD Rodger Foster. “By providing the crucial air connectivity we are able to play our part in promoting the development of critically important commercial, trade and economic ties between South Africa and Mozambique.”
The route will be flown by the airline’s Embraer Regional Jet fleet, on a twice-weekly basis. Passengers on the route will be able to seamlessly connect with other Airlink flights, across the airline’s network.
The flights will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flights from Johannesburg to Nampula will be coded 4Z 230 and depart at 10h30. The return flights will be coded 4Z 231 and leave Nampula at 13h35 on the same days.
Passengers should check with the authorities in their destination countries regarding the Covid-19 precautions they require. Airlink’s aircraft are fitted with High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters in their cabin air systems. These remove 99.97% of all particulates, including Covid-19 molecules.
