A leading producer and exporter of citrus fruit in the Eastern Cape recently required a certified air-tight door for its steri room chambers.

The steri cooling process takes place in three chambers where air tightness is essential. A panel sectional door was fitted in order to ensure that optimal internal temperatures were maintained to prevent product spoilage.

The door provides a four-way sealing system which aims to prevent air from escaping from the chambers, with the interlocking panels offering an additional sealing advantage. The design aims to improve energy savings by optimising temperature control, as well as assisting in the prevention of dirt and dust ingress.

The flexible overhead sectional doors are available in steel or aluminium and can be purpose-fit for warehouses, logistics centres and business premises. The doors are available in a number of designs, including wide low threshold pass-doors, normal pass-doors and full vision panels with acrylic or hardened glass windows. The zinc-aluminium coated panels are corrosion-protected and additional seals can be fitted, depending on the degree of air tightness required by the specific application.

The door has a variety of access and automation options including additional features such as wind-resistant reinforced panels, a class 3 certification for water tightness and wind load and air permeability.

The doors were installed for Endulini Fruit by Maxiflex, a certified ASSA ABLOY entrance systems distributor.
