Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has embarked on an Africa-focused marketing campaign for its new-generation single-aisle series of airliner, the E2 family, dubbed the ‘Profit Hunter’. Last month, an E190 E2 took VIP guests and test pilots on a one-hour excursion, flying from OR Tambo International Airport, in Gauteng, to Standerton, in Mpumalanga, and back. Compared with the previous E1 generation of planes, the E2 offers new engines and wings, full fly-by-wire controls and other airframe refinements. Fuel burn has been reduced by 17.3%.
