Africa Pipe Industry
Sasolburg-based Africa Pipe Industry (API) is a manufacturer of helical welded pipes for the water, and oil and gas industries. It also provides a turnkey solution for the delivery of fully commissioned pipe factories, with specific focus on the rest of Africa.
API started operations in 2010. As a new player in the industry, it was well received and acieved an 80% success rate, which was a good showing for a start-up company.
The company installed its second production line in 2012, which featured new technology equipment and is completely operational and ready to expand on production capacity. The new equipment includes a state-of-the-art hydraulic painting system and a modern real-time X-ray image inspection system.
The company’s CEO, JG Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, and his team have gained approval from both the American Petroleum Institute and the Organisation for Standardisation for the third year running.
