NYSE- and JSE-listed Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) on Friday announced it would sell its Australian subsidiary Carlton & United Breweries to Asahi Group Holdings for $11.3-billion in enterprise value.

As part of this transaction, AB InBev granted Asahi the rights to commercialise the portfolio of AB InBev’s global and international brands in Australia.

AB InBev said the divestment of Carlton would help reduce the group’s debt and accelerate its expansion into other fast-growing markets in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
