Judging by what we have seen so far, it is safe to say that we can expect an icy winter this year. For many of us, winter is also when we discover a few more cracks and crannies in our houses for the cold air to find its way inside. Not only does that make it harder to keep your house warm, but it can lead to increased energy consumption and high electricity bills. With gas, coal, and electricity prices rising, consumers and businesses are feeling the squeeze.

Take a look at some steps you could take to help keep the chill factor at bay this year, leaving you with a toasty warm home and more money in your pocket.

Check your insulation

It might be time to add some extra insulation to your house. In fact, the heavier the insulation, the better. By installing a fresh layer of insulation in the ceiling and adding a blanket to your geysers, you’ll be saving quite a bit on your electricity bill. If possible, opt for eco-friendly insulation.

Draught-proof your home

Check your home for vulnerable areas where cold air could be getting in, and valuable warm air could be escaping. Doors and windows are the most likely culprits, so make sure that they are sealed tightly and that you can’t feel any coolness near the window or door.

Turn to thermal curtains

Thick curtains are a brilliant way to retain heat and not let in any cold air from the windows. They also make a room look cosier – win-win. Consider switching to thermal curtains if you’re ready to take your comfort to a new level. They’re a real game-changer.

If you’re not up for a complete change, attach thermal liners to your existing curtains.

Don’t forget to let in as much sunshine during the day by opening your curtains and closing them again to insulate your home at night-time.

Implement zone heating

Zoned heating is going to be your go-to solution this winter because it maximises the heat where you are. Shut the doors to rooms you’re not using during the day or night and focus on only heating the environments where you spend most of your time.

Say goodbye to a cold home with the latest air-conditioning tech

This winter, why not consider investing in the latest air conditioning technology to put an end to your struggle with freezing temperatures? The LG Dualcool Heating & Cooling Split Air Conditioner could be an ideal way to make your house warmer without the excessive energy costs.

With its fast heating capability, the LG Dualcool is all about heating spaces effectively while saving on energy consumption. LG's Dual Inverter Compressor™ constantly adjusts the compressor's speed to maintain the desired temperature levels and features a power-saving operation range frequency that saves up to 70% energy compared to a conventional compressor.

LG Active Energy Control makes it easy to adjust the energy consumption to three levels (80%, 60%, and 40%), depending on how many people are in the space and their level of activity. A four-way-auto swing adjusts the airflow based on the environment, allowing for optimal distribution of warm air to living areas and enabling quick, even heating.

If the thought of another freezing winter fills you with dread, rather opt for peace of mind and a comfortable environment with LG this season.
