Wilvic, a Krugersdorp-based provider of turnkey solutions for the engineering plastics industry, has set itself the target of acquiring environmental certification by next year, becoming one of the first injection moulding companies in South Africa to achieve this accolade.
In fact, the 43-employee company was among the first in this country to attain ISO 9001-2000 certification (from TUV) for a quality management system in injection moulding.
Wilvic, owned by the wife-and-husband team of Wilma and Bogdan Bogdanovic, has the capability of designing, prototyping, mould-manu-facturing and producing engineering plastics products. It services the automotive, mining, security, irrigation and plumbing sectors.
Its premises, at 1 Hammer street, Boltonia, Krugersdorp, comprise production facilities covering 1 650 m2, offices (600 m2) and a tool room (700 m2).
The design department uses the latest software, including Solid Edge and Edgcam, while the tool room boasts state-of-the-art CNC machines. The production facility is equipped with 24 latest-technology injection-moulding machines.
Wilvic uses EN19T steel during mould manufacture and a variety of polymers – including fibre-filled nylon, Acetal, Zytrel, Nylon 6, Hytrel, Vydene, Foreprene, HDPE and PVC – for the final product.
The company currently services one of the biggest conveyor idler manu- facturers in the US, supplying it with 80% of its conveyor idler components.
Wilvic exports 60% of its products to the US and Australia.
