In response to a growing demand in the Free State, Northern Cape and Lesotho for high-quality, affordable industrial equipment to rent or buy, Southern Africa welding and construction-related equipment supplier Renttech South Africa (SA) opened its new branch in Bloemfontein in April.

The new branch offers a comprehensive range of welding equipment, consumables and welding gases, as well as advice regarding the products and solutions best suited to each customer’s particular requirements.

The new branch is strategically and conveniently located, providing easy access to its customers in agriculture and industry, says Renttech SA Bloemfontein branch man- ager Etienne Gouws.

The company has noted a steady increase in demand in the agriculture sector for the renting and buying of industrial equipment, with Gouws citing farmers, who typically require welding equipment because they prefer to do their own maintenance work, as an example.

Renttech’s welding equipment rental business is based on an analysis of customer needs, as the correct equipment is matched to a specific application, thereby meeting exact customer requirements. The customer will pay a deposit and rent the equipment for a specified time, which can vary from a day to three months or longer. This offers customers flexibility to rent rather than buy, as some projects do not warrant the capital layout of new equipment.

Renting from Renttech SA enables the customer to enjoy ongoing support and service in case of a breakdown or maintenance issue, states Gouws, adding that the customer’s choice of machine and equipment is project specific, ensuring that the right equipment is supplied for the right application.

He tells Engineering News that customers will benefit from the company’s new Bloemfontein branch through a more personalised service, with a quicker turnaround time and a larger stockholding, which includes a substantial fleet of welding equipment.

Renttech SA is the largest distributor in Southern Africa for global welding solutions and equipment supplier Lincoln Electric. It is also a distributor for industrial gas supplier Air Liquide. These partnerships increase the company’s capacity to meet the demands of the agriculture and industry customers in the region.

Diesel-Driven Generators
Gouws says demand for Renttech SA’s diesel-driven generators, which were launched at Electra Mining in September last year, has increased significantly, as a result of the current electricity challenges in South Africa.

Renttech SA MD Gerrit van Zyl says the range of diesel-driven generators has had a positive market response, with a spike in demand from customers in the agriculture sector who have had to plan their operations around load-shedding.

“Considering the current challenges in energy supply, these generators provide utmost quality and reliability and are fully supported by Renttech,” he says, adding that the company also ensures that all spare parts are readily available through its 22 branches across Southern Africa.

Van Zyl asserts that Renttech SA’s substantial knowledge about the rental industry, coupled with solid support, gives the company an advantage when it comes to engine selection for optimum durability. This ensures that its equipment is not only extremely durable but also very economical to run and maintain.

“Our generators are specifically designed to suit African conditions, ranging from 1 kVA for domestic and outdoor use to 2 250 kVA for extreme on-site applications he says.

These include salt spray environments, typically encountered at coastal applications, such as harbour expansions and oil rig refurbishments, or extreme heat and moisture conditions such as the forest climates in Central Africa.

Van Zyl notes that the company’s diesel generators, which are cost effective and energy efficient, as well as small and compact, are available in 150 kVA to 500 kVA units for extreme conditions and heavy-duty on-site use.

He also highlights that the heavy-duty rental units, which come with a five-year rustproof warranty, can be double-stacked and painted to marine container specifications.

Meanwhile, the diesel generators are also available in smaller 1 kVA to 7 kVA units, which are ideal for domestic use, small businesses and roadworks, while the standard 10 kVA to 100 kVA units are popular for larger businesses and on-site use.

Renttech generators are manufactured by hand-picked ISO-accredited suppliers in China. This ensures that these generators are built according to stringent Renttech specifications and designs. Only tried and tested engines, such as Perkins, Kubota or Cummins, combined with specific alternators, such as Newage Stamford, are used, ensuring that the various units across the range are of the best quality and efficiency for their different applications.

What makes Renttech’s service offering unique is the support provided by Renttech technicians, who are expertly trained in the repair, maintenance and servicing of all its products; as well as the company’s comprehensive stockholding and operational footprint, which provides customers nationwide with convenient access wherever they are located.
