Developed in response to the demand for a five-axis machine from manu- facturers of F1 engines, aircraft parts and dies and molds, the NMH6300 DCG is a horizontal- machining centre for five-axis machining of medium and large work pieces which offers excellent surface quality and high precision.
One feature is the use of direct drive (DD) motors on the A and B axes of the tilting table, which allows zero backlash and high-precision positioning. With actual measurement values of 0,6 s on the A-axis and 0,3 s on the B-axis, it has achieved the world’s highest level of positioning accuracy. Also, since there are no parts, such as worm wheels and gears, to suffer wear and tear, as there were in conventional machines, high speed and long life have been made possible.
The maximum rapid traverse rate is 3,6 times greater than that of earlier models to guarantee high precision.
Driven at the centre of gravity technology has been used for the X, Y and Z axes, controlling vibration during feed axis acceleration and deceleration, and at the tool tip and ensuring high-quality machin-ing.
Further, the combination of A and B axes with DD motors allows a level of machining precision which could not be achieved on conventional machines, and as well as a reduction in machining time, the firm states.
