Fluor Igoda Projects (Pty) Ltd, an engineering, procurement, project and construction management (EPCM) services company, is celebrating 10 successful years of undertaking capital projects in the oil, gas and chemicals markets in South Africa.

“During the past decade, we have worked on more than 40 terminals and depots across the country supporting key clients with asset maintenance, upgrades, environmental compliance and capacity increase projects,” said Rishad Khan, managing director of Fluor Igoda Projects. “We have long standing relationships with many refineries and have developed a solid platform to support the bulk fuels storage and logistics network.”

The relationship between Fluor and Igoda Projects, a 100 percent black owned company, started more than 13 years ago. Initially Igoda Projects was Fluor’s electrical and instrumentation sub-consultant. After working together successfully for approximately 18 months, the relationship was elevated to joint venture status to offer EPCM services to targeted coastal clients.

Formalised in 2006, Durban-based Fluor Igoda Projects (Pty) Ltd was established with Fluor holding 70 percent ownership, and Igoda holding 30 percent. The key drivers at that stage were to create a platform for skills transfer from Fluor to Igoda, and to empower them to undertake EPCM projects on a stand-alone basis.  Fluor was then able to implement their transformation agenda as well as comply with their BBBEE mandate.
