Boiler manufacturer and distributor Nationwide Boiler Incorporated based in California, in the US, announced the fast-track emergency delivery of two large package water tube boilers.

The supply to a pulp and paper facility in the Pacific Northwest took seven days in which time the boilers – which traveled nearly 1 609 km to the customer site – were delivered, installed, and put into service.

Nationwide Boiler’s long-time customer was experiencing issues with a large power boiler, and on short notice had to take it down for repairs. After fielding the initial call, Nationwide Boiler rental manager Tim McBride, identified two 31 750 kg/h trailer-mounted water tube boilers that were serviced and ready for immediate use. Within two days, the boilers were dispatched to support the outage.

“This type of emergency need is exactly what we are here for. Nationwide Boilers has built a fleet of over 100 rental boilers in a variety of sizes and operating parameters, allowing us to have units available at any given time to support our diverse customer base,” explains McBride.

He adds that the boilers are currently operating and supporting production at the pulp and paper facility, and will continue providing steam to the plant through the duration of the repairs.

With storage facilities throughout North America, Nationwide Boiler is strategically positioned to provide equipment for planned, unplanned and emergency outages to customers globally. The company also maintains an environmental division for increased efficiency and ultralow nitrogen oxygen solutions, and a controls division for burner management, combustion control systems, fuel trains, and other process equipment support.

Subsequently, a division of Nationwide Boiler, Pacific Combustion Engineering, has been awarded two large contracts to replace ageing boilers and related equipment at Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals across the Pacific Northwest.

The company worked closely with both mechanical contractors, as well as the equipment manufacturers, to provide a custom-engineered solution that complies with the unique specifications of each project.

Nationwide Boiler project engineer Nic Petty has been selected to manage each project alongside Pacific Combustion sales manager Mike Dorthalina, and sales engineer Matt Pope.

The first contract includes the sale of three 250 hp Mohican model, 4-pass wetback, low-pressure Superior firetube boilers, each equipped with a Webster dual fuel burner. The second contract includes the sale of three 200 hp Wichita model, 2-pass wetback, high-pressure Superior firetube boilers, also each equipped with a heat technology provider Webster dual fuel burner. Each burner has been designed to include flue gas recirculation for low nitrogen oxide operation, as well as national fire protection association 85-compliant fuel trains and international insurance carrier FM Global-approved components. Various boiler auxiliaries will also be supplied to support both VA projects.
