Protecting homes has never been more important than it is today and research shows that homes without a security monitoring system are about three times more likely to be broken into than a home with one.
For this reason, Elvey Security Technologies’ residential security solutions divison has introduced a variety of improved systems.
The company offers a great deal of flexibility in its security systems, allowing for the necessary protection.
In light of the dynamic nature of the industry, with new and improved equipment emerging into the market everyday, Elvey, in association with Tavcom Training, the UK’s leading training institution in security systems, has introduced Tavcom training to South Africa.
These courses teach users the correct way to select, install, operate and maintain closed circuit tele- vision (CCTV), access control, intruder alarms and all other types of electronic security systems.
Tavcom Training offers a range of technical and nontechnical training within security-related fields to company executives, systems operators, installation engineers, sales managers, project managers and control room operators.
Residential security products
Elvey’s PowerSeries control panels from DSC Sytems, of Canada, have a proven reputation for providing the value and dependability that security professionals expect from alarm panels.
All panels support wireless, video, Internet protocol wireless communication and home automation.
New PowerSeries keypads have been introduced, which include a full touch-screen system.
In line with its camera systems, Elvey has a visionline day and night camera, which is waterproof and easy to install.
The cameras are automatically switched on and have built-in minia-ture LEDs, which illuminate the area in the field once the light levels drop.
Another product in the Elvey range is the RSI-1000 security system, which features a tiny video camera that gives an exact view of events in a time of alert.
The RSI is a videofied intrusion alarm, which is completely wireless and is battery-powered with a minimum operational life of four years.
It is used by the State department and the Department of Defence in the US to identify criminals at the scenes of crimes.
Videofied verification supports faster responses from law enforcement because they know that a crime has occurred or is in progress.
The motion detector with its built-in, wide-angle camera records ten seconds of video the instant motion is detected and the alarm system is triggered.
The P-Cam only records when activated and the video is then transmitted to the central monitoring station where real images are available to central station operators.
Interestingly, the system integrates an advanced motion detector with a sophisticated digital video camera and infrared illuminators.
Commercial security products
In keeping with the times and technologies, Elvey has introduced a range of security systems that emphasises a host of value-added and life-safety security features that have been integrated.
The Maxsys system technology allows for full commercial inte- gration as well as simple, affordable integration of access control with an intrusion alarm system.
Also part of the range is the Samsung SCC-6407 power zoom smart dome camera.
The advanced Video IQ creates a new standard for human detection applications with CCTV cameras and uses GE Security proprietary technology that goes beyond video motion detection and delivers accurate detection of human activity.
Quality CCTV equipment allows the user to monitor and protect the designated area, with a variety of systems for both personal and business use.
One of Elvey’s newest products OzVision is a security and remote video management system.
It has an advanced video-compression technology that delivers high-quality images from sites over any telephone line, including cellphones.
OzVision is easy to install, cost-effective and offers users video verification at the central station, video email on events and also look-in capabilities.
Another product, called the Smokecloak, is an electronic device that is connected to an intruder alarm system.
The system is designed to provide protection in a critical time gap between the alarm’s activation and the response team’s arrival at the scene.
When activated, it produces a large volume of harmless dense white vapour that gives the appearance of fog or smoke.
It completely fills the protected area by reducing visibility to less than 75 cm within 30 seconds.
Outdoor security products
Increasing the effectiveness of a security system, Elvey together with Optex has proposed a new innovative concept of a threefold security solution, which includes detection of intruders from the inside of the building, the boundary of the building and the perimeter of the property.
Monitoring the perimeter of a property to forestall any intrusion is what Elvey calls “the first line of defence”.
Additionally, detectors can be linked to cameras and images captured by camera are then recorded as photo evidence.
