Mitsubishi Electric has acquired a 14.9% stake in South African software development company Adroit Technologies following the successful joint development and release of the Mitsubishi Adroit process suite (Maps).
Maps offers customers and channel partners an integrated software and hardware platform aimed at reducing initial engineering and extending the quality of an as-built solution through extended tools and management software.
Adroit Technology distributor CBI Electric executive manager Steve Venter says that the acquisition shows that Mitshubishi is becoming serious about the Southern African environment and the potential that it shows.
The investment secures Mitshubishi Electric’s offering and futureproofs commitment to and investments in the product offering by customers.
“Adroit Technology has leading software and a proven track record of large-scale solutions in many different industries. In addition, the strategy of building value around automation solutions, in the form of the Alarm Management and analysis tools, and the recently released Adroit supervisory control and data acquisition intelligence business intelligence and reporting platforms are both useful productivity tools,” says Mitshubishi Electric head: Europe Hartmut Puetz.
The transaction will see Mitshubishi Electric distributing and supporting Maps and other related software in Europe through their existing channels, which will strengthen Adroit’s footprint in the international market.
Androit Technologies MD Dave Wibberly says that, not only is Mitsubishi the largest manufacturer of programmable logic controllers, but its whole product range is also impressive.
“The company has a good vision of where it wants to be and our joint development around Maps and the ancillary products we have on offer complement this strategy well,” he says.
Puetz says, with Maps, Mitsubishi Electric will be able to penetrate and compete in the larger process industry and projects.
“We are turning our attention to the food and beverage, water and mining industries, and Maps gives us an edge in these areas. The feedback from our partners has been favourable and we are looking forward to a long relationship with Adroit Technologies,” concludes Puetz.
