Shameel Joosub

Shameel Joosub is a South African telecommunications executive who serves as chief executive of Vodacom Group, one of Africa's largest mobile network operators. He has led the company since 2012, overseeing its expansion across the continent and its evolution from a traditional mobile operator into a broader technology and financial services provider. Under his leadership, Vodacom has pursued digital transformation initiatives, expanded its fintech offerings to promote financial inclusion, and forged strategic partnerships with global technology companies. Joosub has been instrumental in positioning Vodacom at the forefront of Africa's digital economy, championing investments in network infrastructure, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. He has driven the company's diversification beyond voice and data services into areas such as mobile money, enterprise solutions and Internet of Things applications. Before becoming chief executive, Joosub held senior positions within the Vodacom group, including managing director of Vodacom Business. His tenure has been marked by consistent revenue growth, subscriber expansion and the company's increasing role in bridging the digital divide across African markets.
