SAPPMA

SAPPMA (Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association) is an industry body representing manufacturers of plastic pipe systems in southern Africa. The association serves as the collective voice for the plastic pipe manufacturing sector, promoting standards, best practices and technical innovation across the industry. SAPPMA's membership comprises companies producing pipes and fittings from materials including high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other polymeric compounds used in water infrastructure, sanitation, irrigation and industrial applications. The organisation works closely with standards bodies such as the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and testing authorities to ensure product quality and compliance with national and international specifications. SAPPMA provides technical guidance, training and advocacy for its members, addressing issues ranging from material specifications to installation practices. The association plays a significant role in South Africa's water security and infrastructure development, as plastic piping systems form a critical component of municipal water supply, wastewater management and agricultural irrigation networks. SAPPMA also engages with government, consulting engineers and specifiers to promote the appropriate use of plastic pipe technologies. The association contributes to the circular economy agenda by supporting recycling initiatives and sustainable manufacturing practices within the plastics sector. Through its activities, SAPPMA seeks to advance the competitiveness and technical capability of the southern African plastic pipe industry.
