Santos

Santos is an Australian energy company focused on the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas. The company is headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia, and operates across Australia, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste. Santos is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and ranks among Australia's largest independent oil and gas producers. Its core assets include the Cooper Basin in central Australia, one of the country's most prolific onshore petroleum-producing regions, as well as interests in liquefied natural gas projects including the Gladstone LNG facility in Queensland. The company supplies natural gas to domestic and international markets, playing a significant role in Australia's energy security and export economy. Santos also holds interests in offshore petroleum fields in northern Australia and the Browse Basin. In recent years the company has positioned itself as a supplier of gas for industrial applications, including potential use in emerging low-emissions technologies such as direct reduced iron production. Santos was founded in 1954 and takes its name from the South Australia Northern Territory Oil Search consortium that originally established the enterprise.
