Riyadh

Riyadh is the capital and largest city of Saudi Arabia, located in the central region of the Arabian Peninsula. With a population exceeding seven-million people, it serves as the political, administrative and financial centre of the kingdom. The city is the seat of the Saudi government and home to the royal family, major ministries and diplomatic missions. Riyadh has emerged as a leading business and commercial hub in West Asia, hosting the headquarters of numerous national and international corporations, banks and financial institutions. The city's economy is diversified across sectors including finance, construction, technology, manufacturing and energy, reflecting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 economic transformation agenda. Riyadh is a major venue for international conferences, trade exhibitions and investment forums, particularly in the energy, mining and technology sectors. The city has invested heavily in modern infrastructure, including King Khalid International Airport, an extensive road network and ambitious metro and public transport projects. Riyadh's strategic importance has grown as Saudi Arabia positions itself as a regional leader in critical minerals, renewable energy and the energy transition. The city's development accelerated dramatically from the mid-twentieth century, transforming from a desert settlement into a sprawling modern metropolis and one of the fastest-growing cities in the world.
