Posco

Posco is a South Korean steelmaker and one of the world's largest steel producers by output. The company is headquartered in Pohang, South Korea, and operates integrated steel mills in Pohang and Gwangyang. Posco produces a wide range of steel products, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled and coated steel sheets, plates, wire rods and electrical steel, serving automotive, shipbuilding, construction and appliance industries. The company is listed on the Korea Exchange and has expanded its operations internationally, with production facilities, processing centres and joint ventures across Asia, the Americas and other regions. Posco has invested heavily in raw material security, including iron ore and coal assets, and maintains long-term supply agreements with major miners such as BHP in Australia's Pilbara region. In recent years, the steelmaker has prioritised decarbonisation and the development of low-carbon steelmaking technologies, including hydrogen-based direct reduced iron processes, as part of its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality. Posco's revenue exceeds tens of billions of dollars annually, and it employs tens of thousands of people worldwide. The company was founded in 1968 as Pohang Iron and Steel Company and played a central role in South Korea's industrialisation, becoming a global steel industry leader over subsequent decades.
