More than 200 exhibitors will gather at the Cape Town International Conference Centre from October 27 to 29, 2026, for Propak Cape, which incorporates Pro-Plas Expo, Print Expo, Pro-Label Expo, FoodPro Expo and the Wine & Olive Oil Production Expo. Montgomery Group Africa portfolio director Mark Anderson says the triennial event, supported by Plastics SA, Packaging SA, Printing SA, IPSA and FTASA, remains particularly relevant to the Western Cape, which accounts for more than 50% of South Africa's agricultural exports, with a focus on recyclable and fibre-based packaging, automation and traceability technologies.

PVC achieved a collection and recycling rate exceeding 10% during 2025, above the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment's 6.5% target, while polystyrene achieved a 41% rate against 9 492 t placed on the market.

Plastics SA executive director Anton Hanekom says the pace and scale of the increases are unlike anything the industry has experienced in recent years.
